Spring Break EcoLearning Adventure to East Texas - 9-14 March 2013

This year, 10 adventurous River Watchers joined us for a week-long camping road trip. With our group of young women, representing 4 of our partnering high schools, we went south to the coast, then looped up through East Texas to Caddo Lake. Day of Service @ Montopolis - 21jan2013

Austin Youth River Watch partnered with Keep Austin Beautiful and the City of Austin's Watershed Protection Department to host a Day of Service at the Montopolis Bridge in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Volunteers tested water quality (guided by our River Watchers), learned about aquatic insects, and collected litter in the Colorado River Wildlife Sanctuary. Canoe-camping adventure - 6 October 2012

Seven River Watchers braved the chilly weather to paddle down the Colorado River and camp out on Cook's Island. World Water Monitoring Day - 18 sept 2012

Once a year, we recognize the efforts of people all over the world who monitor water quality in their communities: World Water Monitoring Day! This Wednesday, in Austin, we took part in a fun event that included the City of Austin's Watershed Protection Department, Keep Austin Beautiful's Green Teens, the Colorado River Foundation, LCRA's Colorado River Watch Network, and the Austin Parks & Recreation Department. We had educational tables and displays along the hike-and-bike trail at Auditorium Shores. We even got a visit from Kathie Tovo, of the Austin City Council, who stopped by to pass along an official proclamation from the Mayor. (18.09.2012, 7 Photos)

Whole Earth Provision Co. volunteers help with sampling - 18 June 2012

On June 18th, a group of volunteers from Whole Earth Provision Co. met us at the River Watch ecohouse, and then we walked down the trail to Hergotz Crossing, on the Colorado River. We collected (and released) samples of the fish and benthic macroinvertebrate populations, and we talked about how water quality in the river affects those populations. (18.06.2012, 23 Photos)

Austin Involved volunteers with the River Watchers - 16 June 2012

On Saturday, June 16th, a group of volunteers from Austin Involved joined the River Watchers at McKinney Falls State Park for a training on sampling benthic macroinvertebrates.
